On Thursday December 21 friends, acquaintances and appreciative community members are planning to join together in a commemorative carol sign for Henry Kock in downtown Guelph.
Henry died of brain cancer on Christmas Day 2005.
Please join us downtown at 6:30 pm in the square outside Capistrano's.
Bring a carol sheet.
Bring a candle.
Bring an instrument.
Bring good wishes.
Bring memories.
Let's sing Henry's spirit home. Everyone is welcome.

Blog Guelph: Rockwood Farmer's Parade
On the second Thursday of December, the little village of Rockwood - due east of Guelph on highway 7 - hosts the Annual Rockwood Farmers' Santa Claus Parade of Lights.
A few dozen farmer's decorate their cultivators, thrashers and manure spreaders to the hilt and parade around the country block, much to the delight of thousands of people.
I have no idea what this equipment is but it certainly looked cool.

"I love images and whether they're digital or film, it doesn't matter. I love experimenting with film. Mostly I use medium format or polaroid film cameras, but I am not afraid to say that digital is in my life. Blog Guelph: Glass Quilt
As I type this post the sun is making an effort to squeeze through the clouds. Still, Blog Guelph will splash some colour into today's posts just in case grey skies prevail and spirits need to be lifted.
The Glass Guild of Guelph have been quilting - with glass. This piece was created by 23 of their members as part of the 175th Anniversary of Guelph. The Guild is located in Old Quebec Street on the 2nd level.
This very sharp photo was taken by dezsö. Check out his photography show now up at the Red Brick Cafe on Douglas Street in downtown Guelph.

Blog Guelph: Ice on Leaves
In late autumn many Guelphites respond to the first few snow falls as though they are charming. We take lots of photos, comment on how 'pretty' it looks and spend time frolicking.
If you follow along Blog Guelph these next few months, you will witness a changing dynamic in our attitude. As winter sets in and drones on and on even the die-hard enthusiast gets annoyed and fed-up. As an Aussie friend who wintered over in Guelph a few seasons ago said, "You people are crazy to live here."

Blog Guelph: Reflection Garden
Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
This sculpture is part of the Reflection Garden located at the meeting point of the Speed and Eramosa Rivers, close to the covered bridge. It was gifted to the City of Guelph from the Canadian Federation of University Women and installed as a memorial to the fourteen women murdered in Montreal in December 1989.
The sculpture includes fourteen iron roses.

Blog Guelph: Winter Lights in Downtown Guelph
On Saturday night, Guelphites were invited downtown for the annual lighting of the tree, carol sing, trolley rides and sit on Santa's lap.
This sad clown was having difficulty keeping her string dog warm.

The tunes were terrific - with all the grooviness of a mini, chilly Hillside Festival. Left to right: Katherine Wheatley, Tannis Slimmon, Nick Craine, Jude Vadala.
Mayor Karen Farbridge was on hand for the official countdown of the tree lighting too. It took a few minutes but eventually the full tree glowed with lights.
