Of course car riders and home singers are welcome to join in.

Today we bring you the photography of dje-graphs, also known as Doug England.
This photo, however, was taken by his father some years ago.
Here is what Doug had to say about this shot:
"Yes my father was an amateur enthusiast photographer. He taught me in the beginning. I grew up in his darkroom at his feet. I still have his 4x5 Crown Graphic, 4x5 DeJur Enlarger, Brownie Box camera and other items. He shot a few weddings back in the day (well for you that would be way way back in the day) I added this photo to my profile section since it is the image that started it all for me."

Blog Guelph: Happy 181st Birthday Guelph
Greetings and salutations blog surfers - I'm delighted to report that today is Guelph's birthday!
Please break into the Happy Birthday song now.
Founded April 23, 1827 by John Galt - which means John chopped down a big tree and claimed our beginning - Guelph didn't officially became a city until April 23, 1879, - the 9th city in Ontario - with a whopping population of 10,000.
To help with the celebration, may I encourage all of you to dust off your birthday girl/guy crowns and hit the street. After all, Guelph is us and we are Guelph.

Blog Guelph: Earth Day
Happy, Happy Earth Day my kindred earthlings.
I don't have any links for you today, despite the abundance of earth-friendly things on the go. You'll no doubt discover your own form of celebration for today, as will I.
Immediately after this posting, the earthly and oh so groovy I plan on stepping outside, onto the very venerable earth, slide alongside the wafting breeze, kick off my office-gurl shoes and sink my toes into some spectacular squishing mud. Hopefully anoint my brain with some measure of reverence for a lucky life on this lovely planet in the hush of a favourite hidey-hole.
My alter-self otherness, however, will simultaneously dodge the buses, avoid human contact with a surrounding (and invisible!) force-field, sneeze a little with my newfound allergies...and so on.
All of it good, all of it a little slice of existence.

Blog Guelph: Ryder
Happy Thursday all,
and welcome to the second installment of Made in Guelph.
Today we are featuring wacky and wonderful The Giant Vermin , also known as Tudor Costache.
Tudor (can't seem to bring myself to calling him "vermin") may be well known to some of you as the brilliance behind his last year's 365 on Flickr. This being the personal photo commitment to take a shot of yourself everyday all year long. Tudor's 365 was nothing short of genius in terms of photographic quality and imagination. I couldn't wait to see it everyday, wondering where the heck his mind and eye would wander that day.
But today I bring you 12 shots of his beloved Ryder dog and not him. This little girl is well known to Blog Guelph, in fact Sue Richards considers her a Blog Guelph poster mutt. I post these shots today with an ulterior motive: to beg Tudor to begin another 365, this time with Ryder as the central focus.

Blog Guelph: Call for Volunteers
The Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival would like your help!
They need assistance with:
1. Distributing our promotional postcards to area businesses, libraries etc.
2. The Offsite series is on April 26 & 27 at the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre, U of G. A few volunteers are needed each day to hand out programs, sell raffle tickets /staff information table, and to help with chair set up and cleanup. The performances are at 4pm each day and the time commitment would be about 2 hours.
3. One or two volunteers are needed to help with office stuff including data entry and many other tasks.
4. Billeting artists for the time they are in Guelph.
5. Lots of volunteers are needed for Festival weekend May 29-June 1.

Blog Guelph: Why I Love Guelph
Welcome to 'the-snow-is-really-melting-fast' Tuesday edition of Blog Guelph. Today's bouquet of posts mark the much anticipated arrival of sweet spring.
On a more personal note - I must apologize to those of you that are shocked by the news of my Parkinson's diagnosis. It's taken several months for me to wrap my head around the idea, explore my options and imagine my future. It was strangely hard to 'come out'.
Hillside Festival was my first paid arts gig back in 1986. Since then, I've pieced together a self employed arts career that's been spiritually rewarding but not so lucrative.
I am an artist cliche.
When my symptoms ramped up and it became evident that I was not able to get disability support, friends (aka Team Sue) stepped in to organize the Fun(d)raiser and the ongoing support website. A TD Canada Trust trust fund is also getting set up in my name.
So there you have it. I'm characteristically optimistic, open to a miracle and happy that spring has sprung. I'm also thanking my lucky stars that way back in 1981 when I was looking for a new place to live, Guelph lured me in.
Thank you Guelph. I'm so incredibly grateful for your love and support.

Blog Guelph: Team Sue
A beautiful, sunny Monday to you all,
Today, we'll be showcasing shots of a terrific event held in Eden Mills this past Saturday night.
A room full of loving kindness, generosity and good goodwill prevailed at a benefit known variously as SueJam, Parkinson's Picnic, Benefit for Sue and Fun(d)raiser for our friend Sue.

There was wicked good music, delicious food and some rockin' good dancing going on that night.
For the unfortunate tribe of you locked out that night (SOLD OUT!), here is a lucky seven of shots from Griz2468 and myself.
As you view, try to remember that our hearts were in the right place, and be kind.
Next year, more cameras.
Next year, more actual photographers.
There WILL be a next year.

Blog Guelph: Spring Kitten
As the wind raged and temperature dropped last night I wondered what exactly had crawled up Spring's butt and died. She's starting out a much crankier season than I was wishing for and I can only hope that once she gets caught up with cleaning winter's leftovers, her gentle nature will shower down.
Until then, we have kittens.
Yes I have littered today's 'dog breakfast' of soft news posts with fresh baked kittens for you to get mushy and wiggly over. It's my best mood altering effort dear readers - ideally viewed with a bowl of milk.

Blog Guelph: Earth Hour Guelph
Happy Tuesday people,
Had I been able to post earlier, you might have been in for an April Fool, but alas, the rules suggest that the jokes end by noon. And I don't know who enforces the rules, but the very idea of joke enforcers scare the c#@p out of me.
Ah well, it's all for the best - April Foolery can get you in a boatload of trouble.
Take it from me.
So instead today we'll post some reflections on Earth Hour Guelph. Have to say, there was a surprising dearth of pics to choose from though. Are all you Guelph Flickr folk winter-weary? (I say aye!)
Well who can blame you? Not much but snow and some wicked shadows to inspire, but today is April 1 so we've made it over the hibernating hump and are on to bigger and better things.
Here's a fiver of shots taken to commemorate the night where some of us tried to diminish our impact on the grid. Except maybe City Hall?
oh, and an extra Downtown Guelph promoting one thrown in for good measure. Yummy.
